Overview: Personality
Sting is usually very calm and composed and he is hardly ever seen losing it completely. (In my opinion, Sting wasn’t himself when he was piloting Destroy, but I’ll theorize later.) As a take-charge person, he appears to be the leader of their trio who can make level-headed decisions and remain focused on the task at hand while Auel has a certain cockiness about him that absolutely refuses to listen to a word their commander says and Stellar is stubborn and hates to leave a job unfinished unless Neo directly gives the order for her to retreat. (She also has a tendency to go insane at a moment’s notice...)
Though he is controlled, Sting also holds a certain amount of aggressiveness, liking to push forward or go on the offensive, no matter the situation. Like the namesake of his mobile suit might suggest, Sting holds a certain liking for making the battlefield chaotic and violent, like during the raid on the ZAFT base. Nevertheless, he knows when to admit the situation is bleak enough to withdraw for the time being.
Around Auel and Stellar though, Sting is almost playful and affectionate, treating Stellar like a little sister and joking around with Auel with gentle taunting. His relationships with them are elaborated in the appropriate sections and in the drama track.
When in the presence of someone other than Auel or Stellar (i.e. Athrun, Colonel Lorrnoke, etc.), Sting remains polite and aimable, keeping his cool in the midst of bad situations and listening patiently. When he and Auel come across Athrun and company in their hunt for Stellar, Sting is the one that speaks with the group of ZAFT soldiers, being careful not to reveal their identity, even when Auel is glaring at them suspiciously in the background.
He is also rather serious and pessimistic, or at least seems more serious when placed beside Auel and Stellar’s optimism. (It also seems that Sting doesn't smile much.) Always focusing on what’s going on around him and the reality of his life, Sting never really thinks about the future. He prefers to take life as it comes. As an Extended, he realizes that there might not be a future for him, so does not dwell on it. (Illustrated in the Suit 7 Mini Drama: Yuujou no Basketball, as well.)
